Dr. Chen X. Chen’s team has been awarded over $2 million by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to fund a 5-year study on the role of the vaginal microbiome in dysmenorrhea. In this innovative project, Dr. Chen is leading an interdisciplinary team of clinician scientists, basic scientists, and experts in bioinformatics and machine learning. Together, they aim to uncover new evidence that could pave the way for expanded treatment options for the most common gynecological pain condition.
