Clinical Applications of Tissue Oxygen Scanning
Speaker: Shai Ashkenazi, aScan LLC (shai@ascan-llc.com)
Dr. Ashkenazi is a physicist and a biomedical engineer. In the past 25 years he has worked both in academia and medical device industry in areas involving application of biophotonics, ultrasound, and photoacoustic imaging, for medical diagnostics and imaging.
In 2008 Dr. Ashkenazi has joined the faculty in the BME department at the University of Minnesota where he is currently an associate professor. In his lab, Dr. Ashkenazi has developed a photoacoustic technique for 2-D imaging of tissue oxygen.
Recently, Dr. Ashkenazi has founded A-Scan – Tissue Oxygen Technologies. The company focuses on developing tools for mapping and understanding spatial and temporal distributions of tissue oxygen. This information can be used to improve clinical diagnosis and treatment planning in a range of areas.
Dr. Ashkenazi has a PhD in Physics from the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel.
