Socially Assistive Robots for Seniors: Ryan CompanionBot

Dr. Mohammad H. Mahoor is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at DU. His research lies in the area of AI, machine learning, and social robotics. His current focus of his is developing innovative robotics and AI-based technology for improving the well-being and quality of life of children with special needs such as autism and older adults with depression and dementia. He has received over $8M of research funding from state and federal agencies including the National Science Foundation and the National Institute of Health. Dr. Mahoor is the founder of DreamFace Technologies, LLC, where they have made Ryan CompanionBot for assisting older adults with dementia and mild cognitive impairment. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and has published more than 150 peer-reviewed conference and journal papers. Dr. Mahoor received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Miami, Florida in 2007.
