Short Bio:
Viveka has been recognized as the top 100 Women in Technology in Singapore. As
an Innovator and Technopreneur, she develops and commercialises patient-centric
deeptech medical devices with a spotlight on FemTech. She holistically focuses on the
R&D, clinical & regulatory pathways and commercialization of medtech devices. Viveka
is the first and corresponding author of her work on bioelectronic, wireless sensing
sutures called WiSe sutures, published in the highly prestigious and high impact factor
journal, Nature Biomedical Engineering (nBME). Her work on WiSe sutures made it
to the cover of October 2021 nBME issue and was spotlighted on Nature news and
views. She has her PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the Department of
Materials Science and Engineering, NUS. Her PhD thesis was on the development of
biocompatible magnetic nanomaterials for cancer theranostics. She has her Master’s in
Medical Nanotechnology and Bachelor’s in Biotechnology.
Currently, she is the Technology Development and Commercialization Lead for
Translational Biophotonics Lab, Institute of Bioengineering and Bioimaging, A*STAR.
She spearheads the commercialization of biophotonic technologies with femtech usecases.
She will eventually spin out one of the techs from TBL, to become a deeptech
founder. She is the Co-Lead of A*STAR Diversity Group and the Diversity Champion of
IBB.
